There are several accepted spellings of this special
body of water, and a rich history to explore!
Bob Simpson, a Carteret County legend, is credited as one of the founders of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, served as a nature columnist for the Raleigh News & Observer and was a member of NC’s Order of the Long Leaf Pine prior to his death at 92. Mr. Simpson owned the property directly across the creek from Peltier Point and, in is memoir “When the Water Smokes: A Peltier Creek Chronicle”, details the wonder of life on the waters of the Crystal Coast.
